Families Together of Orange County (FTOC) is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Look-Alike. While holding a California State Community Health Center license, FTOC went through a 3 day site visit, from an HRSA team that included a financial reviewer, a governance reviewer, and a clinical reviewer, that covered 19 areas of compliance. FTOC was the first health center in the Orange County to pass all 19 points with 100%.
FTOC provides general family, pediatric, and OB/GYN medical, full dental, full optometry, cancer screening, and mammogram services onsite. FTOC provides free medical, dental, and optometry visits to uninsured and underinsured patients whose income and lack of coverage qualify, and provides a sliding fee schedule for all of FTOCs services. FTOC participates with Family PACT, Every Woman Counts, and Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) programs. Aside from these clinical services, FTOC also has an onsite health and social services navigator to assist with healthcare coverage applications, and all state and local social service applications with the One E-App, and with navigation for any other needed services such as food and shelter.
FTOC is a member of the Orange County Coalition of Community Health Centers and partners with organizations such as the Salvation Army of Santa Ana, Families Forward, Lighthouse Community Centers, Boys and Girls Club of Tustin and Santa Ana, Project Access, and The Cambodian Family to further assist in meeting the needs of our patients and the community. In order to overcome any obstacles to accessing quality healthcare, FTOC has a 15 passenger van and driver who provides free transportation to and from all appointments.
FTOC was chosen to participate in a recent Cohort with Live Health OC that assist in implementing integrative and preventative health care, led by The Health Funders Partnership of Orange County (HFPOC), in partnership with the Coalition of Orange County Community Health Centers (Coalition), the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) School of Medicine and the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine. FTOC was also chosen to participate in a collaboration with Whole Person Care, led by the County of Orange, for outreach and servicing the complete needs of our community’s homeless population.
FTOC began in 2003 and was formed in 2004 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to improving the quality of life for Orange County families by providing support to parents and children by increasing access to and utilization of quality healthcare services, providing education and training that assist students’ academic success, improving family relationships, and improving community involvement. In 2011 FTOC sponsored, in a partnership with Kaboom!, the building of a healthy and safe playground which was a huge project with a great amount of community involvement.
FTOC hosts an annual Christmas Toy give-away event that has been provided by FTOC uninterrupted for over 10 years. FTOC gives thousands of toys to underprivileged children with an event that has free photos with Santa, bounce houses and other fun activities, food, a stage with entertainment, and the attendance of local dignitaries, police, firefighters, and Marines. Please visit our website at familiestogetheroc.org to see a video of the 2014 event and to see more about our team and services.
